Practical Advice for the Road
For a car tow, have the exact location, preferred destination, vehicle make, model and year ready. Say whether the wheels roll and the steering works. After a crash, keep people safe and follow emergency responders’ directions. Locked wheels, damage or restricted access can affect recovery. For a heavy truck or piece of machinery, gather known weight and dimensions, configuration, load and access limits. A stuck or overturned truck may need a winch or specialized recovery.
Breakdown, Flat Tire or Locked Keys: What Next?
If the vehicle will not start, describe its type, symptoms and 12V or 24V system if known; a battery boost cannot solve every fault. After a flat tire, check the spare, jack and wheel-lock key before requesting a tire change. If keys are locked inside, provide the make, model, year and location; opening depends on an assessment. For a motorcycle or scooter, explain any damage and access limits. A stuck, off-road or overturned vehicle may require a winch and specialized recovery.
